Habitat Founders Help Dedicate UA House

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Millard and Linda Fuller, husband and wife co-founders of Habitat for Humanity International, will be in Tuscaloosa for the dedication of the UA Habitat House Thursday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m.

The UA Habitat House is located at 817 18th St., one block behind Central High School East.

UA Greek Letter Organizations and the UA Habitat Campus Chapter began construction of the house in April. UA students and community partners spent afternoons and weekends during the past spring and this fall working on the UA Habitat House. The money raised for the full sponsorship of the house came from the Greek Links fund-raising program.

A millionaire entrepreneur whose life was re-committed to the mission of simple, decent and affordable housing for all, Fuller and his wife co-founded Habitat for Humanity in 1976; he is a UA Law School graduate.

Roland Smith, who will be the owner of the UA Habitat House, worked with the University students on the construction of his home. Smith, father to a 15-year-old daughter and two adult children, works as a crossing guard.

After the house dedication, the Fullers will speak at St. Francis University Parish at 7:30 p.m.
