TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama’s School of Music will host the U.S. Air Force Reserve Concert Band on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Moody Music Building Concert Hall.
The Air Force Reserve Concert Band is a 45-member, full-time professional musicians’ group that travels more than 100,000 miles each year performing some 500 concerts. Their repertoire includes classical overtures, Sousa marches, Broadway show tunes and popular music favorites.
The Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve has repeatedly represented America in the international arena. In May 1992, the band became the first foreign military band to parade through Red Square in Moscow during the Peace Victory Parade. They were the only foreign band to perform in the 50th celebration of the Victory in Europe Day Parade in St. Petersburg, Russia, in May 1995.
All members of the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve are full-time professional Air Force musicians working in support of Air Force Reserve recruiting and community relations objectives.
Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. The concert is sponsored by the School of Music, The College of Arts and Sciences and the Tuscaloosa News.
