TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Social Work Association for Cultural Awareness is presenting a benefit concert on Thursday, April 24, from 6 p.m.-midnight at Little Willie’s in downtown Tuscaloosa.
The event will benefit Susan Broughton, manager of fiscal affairs in the UA School of Social Work who has been diagnosed with Stage IV mucosal melanoma cancer and is facing significant medical expenses.
Performers include Alabama Blues Legend Willie King & The Liberators, The Caroline Shines Band, Debbie Bond & The Hot Tamales, Cross-Eyed Cats, The Southern Comfort Band and The Little Hall All Stars.
This benefit concert is focused on providing direct financial assistance and support to Broughton during this difficult time. All proceeds will be used towards the payment of expenses incurred during her medical treatment and recovery.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased by contacting Lana Nations at 205/348-5739. Little Willie’s is located at 2209 4th St.
Concert co-sponsors include UA faculty, staff and other social work student organizations.
Charitable donations can also be made to the Friends of Susan Broughton bank account at any Alabama Credit Union or mailed to The University of Alabama School of Social Work to the attention of Alan Kaufman or Cassandra Simon, P.O.
