Graduate and doctoral students eagerly await the hooding ceremony, where UA faculty advisers place hoods on degree candidates. Students sit in chairs at the floor of Coleman Coliseum while listening to ceremonial music, speeches and more. Commencement isn’t just for humans! This service dog and its owner relax before the festivities begin. Adorning your mortarboard is one of the most popular student activities. This student honored her science degree with beakers and vials. Luke “Fluffopotamus” Ratliff was known as Alabama basketball’s superfan, and passed away earlier this year. His parents received his posthumous degree. All smiles as students prepare for their next steps. Actively involved in student organizations or clubs? Don’t forget your cache of cords and robes for the big day. The Nyansapo kente robing ceremony took place before commencement, with dozens of students celebrating their heritage.
