UA works to prevent bullying and suicides

The next wave of future educators at the University of Alabama is working to prevent bullying and suicides. Twenty students are participating in a pilot program with interactive training and testing to help spot risk factors when it comes to bullying and suicide. Some signs include changes in student’s behavior or their performance in school.

Tuscaloosa Alumni Chapter of UA sorority hosts job fair

People in Tuscaloosa are still looking for jobs even though unemployment is low here. And i found a woman who showed up unemployed and left with a job … UA’s alumunae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority organized this job and career fair in hopes of filling the local unemployment gap.

Crowd gathers on Gallalee roof for Friday night stargazing

Four planets and the moon were on display at the Gallalee Hall observatory on Friday night, drawing a larger-than-typical crowd. Attendees ascended the metal staircase leading to the domed observatory, where hosting professor Jimmy Irwin was standing by to answer questions and manage the University’s 16-inch telescope. Throughout the evening, viewers had a chance to take a look at Venus, Saturn, Mars or Jupiter. Two smaller telescopes on the main roof were pointed at the moon.
