From refreshed historic landmarks to new hubs for student support and the arts, The University of Alabama campus continues to evolve with construction and renovation projects that will enhance the Alabama experience.
Student Well-Being Hub
The Student Well-Being Hub is taking shape on the Bryce Campus. The more than 82,000 gross square feet facility will expand UA’s support for student health and well-being, helping students take a more holistic approach to wellness that supports their overall college experience and encourages lifelong healthy habits.
The hub will be home to multiple offices of the Division of Student Life, including the Counseling Center, Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services, Health Promotion and Wellness, the Camellia Center, Dean of Students and Student Care and Well-Being. Construction is scheduled to finish in December.
Quad Security Enhancements
To increase pedestrian safety on the sidewalks around the Quad, bollards were installed along University Boulevard from Colonial Drive to 6th Avenue, as well as the east side of the Quad from Capstone Drive to University Boulevard.
Farrah Hall
Renovations to Farrah Hall started in May. The building, which has remained relatively unchanged for more than six decades, is undergoing a comprehensive interior renovation and needed upgrades, including improvements to heating and cooling, electrical systems, accessibility, safety features and technology.
Additionally, ADA access will be improved through the construction of a new elevator which services all four floors, replacing the previous use of two elevators located in different areas of the building to access all floors. Renovations to the home of the new School of Leadership and Policy is scheduled to be completed in fall 2027.
Smith Family Center for the Performing Arts
Work continues on the new Smith Family Center for the Performing Arts. The facility will provide a modern, flexible space for performances while bringing the department of theatre and dance’s performances and academic programs together in one area of campus.
Construction is scheduled to end in April 2027.
