UA Senior Among 43 Americans to Earn Marshall Scholarship  

University of Alabama senior and Birmingham native Addison Miller was selected to study in the United Kingdom through the prestigious Marshall Scholarship. 

Why This Matters: Miller is the fourth UA student to earn a Marshall Scholarship since 2020, making UA a top producer of Marshall Scholarship recipients among public universities and leader among Southeastern Conference universities over the past five years.

10 Students Selected for Capitol Scholars Program 

Ten UA students have been selected to travel to Washington, D.C., next summer for the University of Alabama System’s 2026 Capitol Scholars program. 

Why This Matters: The program provides exceptional UA System students pursuing government-related careers with immersive summer internships and experiential learning opportunities in Washington, D.C. 

UA Operations During Holiday Break 

UA’s holiday break is Dec. 22-Jan. 1, 2026. Most offices and services follow the UA holiday schedule. Check individual websites and the UA events calendar for the latest information. 

UMC Expands Neurology Care 

University Medical Center, operated by the College of Community Health Sciences, is expanding neurology care and related services with the addition of one of the state’s largest private neurology groups. 

Why This Matters: Alabama Neurology and Sleep Medicine in Tuscaloosa joins UMC Dec. 12 as UMC-Neurology and Sleep Medicine and brings to UMC patients additional care for neurological diseases as well as new services for those with sleep disorders.
