New Majors at UA
Business Statistics, B.S
This degree builds a foundation in statistical methods and business decision-making tools, addressing the need for data-driven expertise in today’s workforce. The program equips students with skills and knowledge of statistical analysis to provide an immediate impact on their future employers.
The 2024-2025 undergraduate catalog states, “The curriculum focuses on a core set of methods, including applied computational methods, and demonstrates how these methods can be used in everyday decision-making in a business environment.”
Data Science, B.S.
This forward-looking program combines machine learning, AI and ethical data analysis, preparing students to meet complex data challenges across various sectors, including finance, actuarial science, marketing, risk management, computer engineering and more.
Career options with this degree inlcude:
- Data analyst
- Data architect/engineer
- Data scientist
- Machine learning engineer
- Operations research analyst
- Any other position that analyzes large quantities of data using computers and computational statistics.
New Minors at UA
Book Arts Minor
This curriculum equips students with skills in book arts, including papermaking and bookbinding, along with critical insights into the intersection of material and content.
The minor “is designed for students in any discipline who have an interest in visual culture, graphic arts, craft, and material studies… As a complement to a primary field of study, the minor provides the background necessary to begin to produce and critically examine creative book work within a historical context and contemporary framework,” states the 2024-2025 undergraduate course catalog.
Informatics Minor
As an important new field of study, informatics examines the impact of emerging technologies on society, focusing on user-centered design and socio-technical analysis.
“As information technologies such as social media, artificial intelligence (AI), and interactive media have moved from the periphery to center stage, there is an increased need for professionals who can accurately assess their impact and realize their potential to enhance our lives, work and well-being,” states the course catalog.
Here, students will approach information technology from a user-centered perspective to look at the analysis and design of socio-technical systems of information.

Sport Management, M.S.
