This week, the Student Government Association jumped to action to gather donations for people living in areas devastated by Hurricane Helene.
Partnering with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Sanders Aviation, SGA leaders and partners solicited donations from fellow students and quickly gathered enough supplies to fill a carload of necessities like diapers, baby formula, hydration packets and more.
Sanders Aviation, which is based in Jasper, collected the items and transported them via the air to affected areas earlier this week as a part of Operation Airdrop.
“We are so thankful for a caring community that came together in a time of need to help victims of this natural disaster,” said SGA Press Secretary Morgan Patrick. “We will be in touch with Sanders to evaluate if more supplies are needed. If so, we will conduct another drive accordingly.”
