TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama raised more than $5 million in gifts during its seventh annual giving days, Bama Blitz.
More than 1,742 gifts from 1,531 UA supporters in 50 states were made during the crowdfunded, social media-driven campaign.
Bama Blitz began at noon April 16 and ended at noon April 18. This year’s campaign, “Bama Dreams Big,” showcased scholarship funds from UA colleges and schools and reinforced the power of fostering student success through philanthropy.
“Celebrating the spirit of generosity and unity, Bama Blitz embodies the dedicated support of our alumni and friends who continuously champion UA’s mission,” UA President Stuart R. Bell said. “Together, through our collective contributions, we showcase the profound impact that a community committed to excellence can achieve for The University of Alabama.”
All gifts to Bama Blitz are part of The Rising Tide 2.0 Capital Campaign, UA’s 10-year, $1.8 billion effort to elevate the campus to new heights through enhancing scholarships, faculty endowments, facilities and athletics. The Rising Tide 2.0 recently eclipsed its goal of 1,000 new endowed scholarships, further demonstrating the commitment of UA’s alumni and friends to support future generations of UA students.
Bryant Bank matched gifts given to campus projects up to a total of $50,000, providing additional support to student-focused funds across campus. To date, Bryant Bank has matched $250,000 through its support of five annual giving campaigns.
“At Bryant Bank, we believe that empowering education is the cornerstone of building stronger communities for tomorrow,” Claude Edwards, president of Bryant Bank, said. “Through our donation, we aim to empower the potential of these future leaders and invite others to unite in this transformative mission. Together, let’s forge a brighter future that extends far beyond our communities.”
UA’s faculty and staff giving campaign, We Are UA, also concluded April 18 in conjunction with Bama Blitz. Both Bama Blitz and We Are UA are managed by the Office of Annual Giving and highlight the impact of a large number of smaller gifts. Of the gifts made during Bama Blitz, 93% were $500 or less.
