Fulbright Top Producer 

The University of Alabama has been recognized as a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright U.S. Students for the seventh time in nine years as well as a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright U.S. Scholars for the first time.  

Why This Matters: UA is one of 12 universities in the nation to receive both designations.  

Student Philanthropy

UA student-led organization UA Miracle raised $233,200 over the past year for Children’s of Alabama.

Why This Matters: UA students have raised more than $2.5 million for Children’s of Alabama since the group’s inception in 2011.

Nursing Leadership 

UA Capstone College of Nursing Dean Julie Sanford has been elected to serve as chair-elect of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. 

Why This Matters: AACN is the national voice for academic nursing, working to establish quality standards for nursing education; assisting schools in implementing those standards; influencing the nursing profession to improve health care; and promoting public support for professional nursing education, research, and practice. 

Promoting Literacy in Black Belt  

The UA Center for Economic Development has kicked off the 18th annual Books for the Black Belt campaign inviting UA students, faculty, staff and local residents to donate K-12 books for students in Alabama’s Black Belt region.   

Why This Matters: UACED aims to promote literacy and a love of learning among students in Alabama’s 13 Black Belt counties. 

Register for Crimson Couch to 5K  

Registration is open for the 14th annual Crimson Couch to 5K scheduled for April 5 at 7 p.m.  

Why This Matters: Members of the UA and local communities are invited to run/walk the 5K that follows a scenic route around campus.
