Fashion Design Students Showcase Work at Fashion for Life

Eight apparel design seniors presented their final collections at the annual Fashion for Life Nov. 14 at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa. Fashion for Life is the culmination of a capstone course that students start preparing for before their senior year.

This year’s designers were Grace Carmack, of Hartselle; Julia Wolfe Deters, of Louisville, Kentucky; Madie Hollingsworth, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Shakira Lewis, of Montgomery; Linda Rose Manginelli, of Narbeth, Pennsylvania; Abbie Saul, of Cumming, Georgia; Lindsay Stock, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; and Claudia J. Wolfe, of Orange County, California.

Student designers use knowledge and skills gained from their years of study to meet the challenge of this experiential learning event. The collection development process and production of the show itself mirror what students will encounter once they enter the apparel industry after graduation.

All proceeds from the event’s ticket sales were donated to the United Way of West Alabama. Money raised from sales was matched by Estee Lauder Companies.
