Bell (right), presented the Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award to four faculty members. Dr. Chandra Clark is an assistant professor in the department of journalism and creative media. OCTA Awards are bestowed on exceptional faculty by the UA National Alumni Association. Dr. Kyungyong Lee is an associate professor in mathematics. Dr. Michael R. McKain is an assistant professor in biological sciences and the curator of the UA Herbarium. The fourth OCTA recipient, Professor Dominic Yeager, is an associate professor and chair of the department of theatre and dance. The Outstanding Commitment to Advising Award is given to two people, one a professional and one a faculty advisor. This year’s professional winner, Tabitha Tuten, is in the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Margaret Peacock, associate professor in history, received the Outstanding Commitment to Advising faculty award. The Sam S. May Award recognizes exceptional service to UA and its community. Among the teams earning the award were the social media team from Strategic Communications: Jennifer Rodrigues, Mallori Lanier, Derek Edwards and Summer Earle.
