What to Know About Campus Services During Winter Break

If you are staying around campus in December, here are some things to know about parking rules, Crimson Ride routes, campus mail and more. Check individual websites for the most current information.

Bama Dining

After commencement and until Dec. 16, Bama Dining operations will be limited to The University of Alabama Student Center’s Chick-fil-A and Starbucks, and Starbucks on Bryant Drive. Beyond that point, all locations will be closed, except Starbucks on Bryant Drive. Starbucks will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Campus Mail Service for UA Departments

Campus Mail Service offers an adjusted schedule of mail service for UA departments during the upcoming holiday break. Mail delivery clerks will not run their afternoon routes on Dec. 22. Campus Mail departmental will be open for pick-up only on Dec. 28 and Dec. 31 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be no shipping. Full details are available on the Campus Mail Service website.

Campus Parking

During winter break, all safety rules and regulations apply as normal. Students should not park in faculty/staff or reserve surface lots. Commuter permit holders may park in any commuter zone and residential permit holders may park in any non-gated residential zone. Residential students wishing to leave their vehicles on campus may park in any parking deck corresponding to their parking zone.

Commuter students or students without a parking permit wishing to leave their vehicles on campus during the winter break can park their vehicles in the Campus Drive Parking Deck. Email uapark@bama.ua.edu for additional information.

Crimson Ride 

There will be reduced service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 13-21. Service hours for Dec. 22 are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. All routes will run with a single bus, except Rocket or Express routes, which will not run. There are no apartment shuttles after 9 p.m. Dec. 10.

There will be no service Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, 2022. Reduced service returns Jan. 4, 2022, through Jan. 7, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Apartment shuttles will have vehicles on standby; students should call 205-348-7433 to ride to the Crimson Ride Hub. Regular service resumes with weekend service Jan. 8, 2022. Campus returns to full service on Jan.10, 2022, at 7 a.m.

Fall Crimson Concierge service ends at 5 p.m. Dec. 17 and resumes operations Jan. 4, 2022, at 8 a.m.

University Recreation

Changed hours for all University Recreation facilities and the membership office are listed online.

IT Service Desk

The service desk adheres to UA hours of operation, but after-hours call-in service is available.

Student Health Center and Pharmacy

The Student Health Center and Pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday for the remainder of the semester. The SHCP will not hold evening or weekend clinic hours. The SHCP will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 22 for the winter break, and reopen Jan. 4, 2022, at 8 a.m.

Students are encouraged to call the Student Health Center and Pharmacy to ensure they have medication refills set up with their home pharmacy while UA observes winter break. Students should call 205-348-6276 and speak with the pharmacy to forward their prescriptions to their home pharmacy. Supe Store 

The Supe Store locations on Bryant Drive and the Strip will be closed Jan. 4–10, 2022. Operations will continue at The University of Alabama Student Center location and online.
