Capt. Jeff Nabors of The University of Alabama Police Department is the 2021 recipient of the Mark G. Foster Scholarship. He is pursuing his bachelor’s degree through New College Life Track. Nabors, a 23-year veteran of the department, knew Mark Foster, for whom the scholarship was named in 2011 after his death. Foster was a founding member of the Professional Staff Assembly, which awards the scholarship each fall to a professional staff member who is also currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate courses at UA. 

Bryce Speed, associate professor of art, has been awarded a fellowship by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts for an artist residency for the month of November. 

Dr. Doris Sung, assistant professor of art history, has been appointed to the International Committee of the College Art Association for a three-year term. 

Dr. Amanda Wilkerson, assistant professor, department of health science, has been named associate editor in chief of the American Journal of Health Promotion.

Chris Jordan, associate professor, department of art and art history, has a solo exhibition, “Nowhere in Place,” at Harrison Galleries in Tuscaloosa through November.

Pete Schulte, associate professor, department of art and art history, has a solo exhibition, “The Train and the River,” at McKenzie Fine Art in New York through Dec. 19. 

Bryce Speed, associate professor of art, department of art and art history, has a solo exhibition, “Neon Afternoon,” at the Hoover Public Library through Dec. 31.
