UA’s Student Government Association has produced a five-part video series that covers the steps required for students to return to campus and guidelines in place once the fall semester begins.
“We’ve found that it’s easier for students to envision what life will look like on campus when they can visualize it,” said Will Bradley, SGA director of communications. “SGA is the student body’s main voice and source of information, so it’s important we provide them with steps they can take to keep everybody safe.”
According to Bradley, the videos highlight topics that will most directly impact students, including testing, practices that prevent the spread of COVID-19, and types of academic courses, among others. SGA collaborated with Bama Dining, Crimson Ride and Ferguson Center staff to identify areas each group wanted students to know before returning to campus.
“It is my goal that students understand that we in SGA are truly students serving students and although campus life will look different once we return, we still have the opportunity to make it an amazing year,” said Demarcus Joiner, SGA president. “It is my hope that students will begin to look to SGA for guidance and understand that we are actively advocating to make sure the student experience is as fun and safe as possible.
“Given that this video series was 100% written and produced by students, I want them to see that it is on us to set the standard for a safe and prosperous year.”
The video series was released on SGA’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. The videos will also be posted to the UA News Center’s student channel.
