University of Alabama Jazz Ensemble to perform Thursday

The University of Alabama Jazz Ensemble will be in concert Thursday night at the Moody Music Building, 810 Second Ave. The ensemble’s repetoire includes musical styles from the 1940s to contemporary arrangements, including works written and arranged by students. The award-winning group, directed by associate professor Chris Kozak, has performed at the Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival, the Mobile Jazz Festival and the Wichita Jazz Festival.

I’d been in Samoa for a month, studying Samoan tattooing culture and the impact of the big traditional pieces called pe’a and malu – tatau in general – on the immune system. University of Alabama Arboretum to Host Halloween Event Sunday, October 27th

The University of Alabama Arboretum has a special event planned this weekend. Afternoon at the ArBOOretum will  be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. this Sunday, October 27th. This Halloween-themed event features biology-based activities for kids. The Arboretum trails will also have over 30 different trick-or-treat stops at which kids can receive Halloween candy. If you attend, you can park at the Pritchett Running Park and walk along the trick-or-treat trails to the Arboretum, or you can take a hayride to the pavilion.

UA takes top spot in Wallethub rankings

Wallethub.com ranked the top universities in Alabama and much like its football team, Alabama took the top spot. Behind The University of Alabama was the University of West Alabama, in third, the University of Montevallo, followed by UAB and Birmingham Southern. Auburn, was number nine. Wallethub.com says they considered safety, campus life, educational and career outcomes.
