Big Al to make appearance at Children’s Hands-On Museum

The Children’s Hands-On Museum is all about the elephants this week. Big Al, the University of Alabama’s elephant mascot, will be at the museum from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera to take pictures of their kids with Big Al. On Saturday, the museum will host Elephant Appreciation Day with games, crafts and more. Kids can learn more about the world’s largest living land mammal, including conservation efforts and what can be done to preserve their ranks.

UA School of Law takes part in law school fair at University of Southern Miss

Dash for Domestic Violence Awareness 5K to happen on Sunday

Dash for Domestic Violence Awareness 5k kicks off at 9 a.m. at Denny Chimes Sunday. This is the University of Alabama’s Alpha Chi Omega’s first 5k for their philanthropy. Speaker Sara Massey will also share her testimony and ways to prevent it. Proceeds benefit turning point shelter in Tuscaloosa, which serves as the only domestic violence shelter in West Alabama.

UA honors Tuscaloosa Police officer killed in line of duty

The University of Alabama held a memorial to honor fallen officer Dornell Cousette. The university lit Bryant-Denny Stadium blue for the 40 -year-old officer and his family. Cousette was killed Monday night at a residence in west Tuscaloosa while attempting to serve a warrant.
