Building Bama: The Beat Goes On

UA’s department of construction administration utilizes the summer months to get as much work done as possible before students, faculty and staff return to Tuscaloosa. And while several major projects, including the Capstone Parking Deck, wrapped up ahead of the start of the new academic year, work will continue throughout the year on other projects around campus.

Gorgas Library

Gorgas Library is undergoing upgrades to its restrooms and elevators to address core infrastructure needs and support future development. Restrooms will be enlarged for accessibility and fixture counts will increase to accommodate the growing student population. All elevator shafts will be upgraded and new elevators will be installed.

Tutwiler Triangle Lot

The Tutwiler Triangle Lot will have a new underground stormwater basin installed to alleviate flooding issues at the intersection of Paul W. Bryant Drive and Colonial Drive/10th Avenue. The parking lot will retain 125 parking spaces and receive lighting and landscaping improvements.

Russell Hall Nutrition Lab

The nutrition lab in Russell Hall, adjacent to the Nutrition and Metabolism Laboratory, will be reconfigured to become an open laboratory area with several offices. The project will also include mechanical, electrical, technology and plumbing system upgrades.
