Dulek Believes in UA’s Current Direction, Future Potential

Dr. Ron Dulek has seen quite a bit during his 42 years as a faculty member and administrator at UA. From the growth of the physical campus to the increase in the quality of the student population, he is mesmerized by what UA has become during his tenure.

Dr. Ron Dulek is the John R. Miller Professor of Management in the Culverhouse College of Business.

But Dulek, the John R. Miller Professor of Management in the Culverhouse College of Business, fully understands that UA’s transformation is a product of the investment made by so many who want to propel the Capstone to greater heights for future generations.

“Supporting the University through giving reaffirms our commitment to the campus community,” he said. “It shows we not only believe in our students and faculty and staff, but also in the knowledge we create. It especially shows people beyond the campus that we believe in what we are doing. That’s an important symbol.”

Dulek has served UA in numerous capacities over the years. After ascending the traditional professor track, he was named head of the department of management and marketing. What he thought was going to be a brief stint as an administrator turned into 17 years before he knew it. Although he enjoyed his administrative role, Dulek says he is most comfortable in the classroom.

“Every time I go into a classroom or meet with a student, I have the opportunity to shape that person’s life in a positive way,” said Dulek. “And I know that if I listen and pay attention, that person will often have a positive influence on my life as well.”

During his time at UA, Dulek has financially supported UA through several avenues, including donations to the management and marketing department, the Culverhouse Executives Society and the Morris L. Mayer Award. In addition to his contributions to the Mayer Award, Dulek serves as chair of the award’s committee.

Dulek is honored to be an ambassador of the We Are UA giving campaign and hopes his fellow faculty and staff invest what they can to better the University.

“It means a great deal to serve as an ambassador for this wonderful cause,” said Dulek. “I appreciate that the University sees how much I love it.”
