Alabama Governor Proposes 10-Cent Gas Tax Increase For Roads

Alabama’s governor is proposing a 10-cent per gallon gas tax increase … A 2019 report by the University of Alabama’s Alabama Transportation Institute and Alabama Transportation Policy Research Center found that cars and trucks are putting approximately 69 billion miles on Alabama’s roadways annually, a 17 percent increase over the past 15 years.

One mission that Democrats have been on since they took control of the House of Representatives is to finally get their hands on President Donald Trump‘s tax returns. Doing this is easier said than done, however, because an appropriate committee would need a good reason to do so … University of Alabama Law Professor Joyce Vance, however, thought Ocasio-Cortez did do a good job laying the foundation for seeking Trump’s tax returns.

Law school creates affinity group for black administrators

Law school officials are convening an affinity group for black administrators to discuss race-related challenges in higher education … Bryan Fair, a professor of law at the University of Alabama, said historically white and male universities have been exclusionary of minority groups, and the collective can collaborate with officials to promote diversity initiatives and provide “pathways” to leadership for black administrators.

UA to host UA Early College Collegiate Classic

Coming this weekend, the Capstone will host a big tournament for adapted athletics. The University of Alabama Adapted Athletics will host the early college classic this year at Stran-Hardin Arena. The wheelchair basketball teams will play against some of the top teams from the men’s and women’s college division. Some of these teams include the university of Wisconsin white water, Texas Arlington, and Auburn.

How one night in Birmingham changed college football in the South

Sept. 12, 1970, was the first game of the season for USC and Alabama. At the time, the matchup was seen as a clash of two of the nation’s best collegiate football programs, and USC ended up routing Alabama 42-21 … “In some ways, slavery never ended,” said John Giggie, an African American history professor at the University of Alabama. “It just simply was transformed into a program of white supremacy.”
