Need a Charge, Get a Charge

It is getting easier to be energy-conscious on campus.

A station is available to a driver for up to four hours, the amount of time required to reach a full charge.

Recently, The University of Alabama added 14 more electric vehicle charging ports to seven new locations on campus. The new stations, each designed to charge up to two cars at a time, join three existing charging stations on the campus.

The new UA stations were made possible by an Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, or ADECA, grant to Alabama Power for UA.

Demand for the campus stations is expected to grow in time as cost of electric vehicle ownership is decreasing. UA encourages the use of this green technology and is glad to make the stations available at no cost to UA students, faculty and staff who have a valid campus parking permit and to visitors who have obtained a valid parking permit. There is no cost to the drivers to use the stations.
