New Partnership Allows Students to Vote in Every Election

Voting as a student at The University of Alabama just became much easier thanks to a new University partnership.

The Capstone has officially partnered with TurboVote, an online service that allows people to vote in every local, state and federal election that they qualify for in all 50 states.

“The University of Alabama believes that every student has a responsibility to be an engaged community member in addition to excelling academically,” said J. Price McGiffert Jr., president of the Student Government Association.

“We are committed to providing you with the information and materials to vote in every election from local to presidential. To that end, The University of Alabama is excited to announce a partnership with TurboVote.”

TurboVote simplifies the voting process to allow voters to focus on the important aspects that impact their decision on how to vote – the candidates, the issues and questions on the ballot.

Price said TurboVote will allow students to sign up in one place, register, request an absentee ballot if they wish to vote by mail, and subscribe to receive text and email alerts about deadlines to register and vote, even if they move.

“It’s simple; however, you must take the first step and register,” he said. “Make your voice heard and play a role in shaping decisions that affect all of us.

“Join us now as we roll the vote through TurboVote.”
