UA Offers Physics Contest for Students in High School

The University of Alabama’s department of physics and astronomy will host its 40th annual physics contest for students in high school on Friday, Jan. 29, in the Ferguson Center on campus. The contest typically draws hundreds of students from several states to compete for scholarships, awards and bragging rights.

Founder of IntegraNet to Address McCollough Medical Scholars Forum at UA

Larry Wedekind, founder and CEO of IntegraNet Health Systems, will be the keynote speaker for the 14th annual Susan and Gaylon McCollough Medical Scholars Forum at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, in the Shelby Hall rotunda on The University of Alabama campus. The lecture and discussion will be followed by dinner with UA students at 5:45 p.m. in the Shelby Hall rotunda.

The University of Alabama’s Bama Dining program is launching a series of cooking classes called Crimson Kitchen.

Paintings by UA Alumna Dale Kennington on Display at Downtown Gallery

Paintings by contemporary realist and University of Alabama alumna Dale Kennington will be on display from Monday, Feb. 1, to Friday, March 11, at the UA Gallery in the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in downtown Tuscaloosa. The exhibit, titled “Real Lives: Observations and Reflections by Dale Kennington,” showcases scenes from ordinary life, including getting haircut and waiting for a train.

UA’s National Championship Football Team to be Honored

The University of Alabama football team will be honored for its College Football Playoff National Championship with a parade beginning at Denny Chimes and a program held on the north steps of Bryant-Denny Stadium at the Walk of Champions Saturday, Jan. 23.
