Gorgas Library and Music Library Circulation Desks Consolidating after Holiday Break

Gorgas Library circulation desk

Starting Jan. 4, the music library’s circulation desk housed within The University of Alabama’s Gorgas Library, will close and its services will be administered at the main circulation desk on the second floor of Gorgas.

“Music materials will now be checked out at the main circulation desk,” said Donna Adcock, director of public relations for University Libraries. “We’re changing locations for efficiency. The circulation desk is open during regular Gorgas library hours offering longer hours than the former music circulation desk.

“Having one consolidated circulation desk will give students better service so they can always check out music when the library is open.”

The music library itself is not closing. The only thing changing is the location where items from the music library can be checked out.

Students, faculty and staff will still be able to receive circulating materials, reserves and interlibrary loan services from the circulation desk and check out laptops, headphones, DVDs, sound recordings, LP players, VHS players and any other specific music equipment.
