UA Students Help Flood Victims in Louisiana September 9, 2016 Written by Shane Dorrill 1 min read XFacebookLinkedInEmail In an effort coordinated by UA’s Center for Service and Leadership, students dedicated their Labor Day weekend to helping flood victims in Louisiana. More than 50 students and staff members traveled to Baton Rouge. Rivalries were set aside as students got to work. Students helped gut and clean up five homes that were flooded. Clean up included removing ruined carpeting. Quick demolition was needed. Students removed drywall ruined by flood waters. After demolition came the sweeping up. Students also packed almost 1,300 boxes with a week’s worth of food supplies for families. Students packed 27 pallets of food boxes. Each pallet held 48 boxes.
