TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama launched its new website today.

The newly designed site features responsive design technology, which allows the screen to collapse to fit all screen sizes for mobile, tablet, laptop and desktop devices. It has a strong emphasis on photography, and it integrates video and social media to drive engagement and interaction.

“Our analytics and research told us what information users are looking for when they come to our site,” said Linda Bonnin, UA vice president for strategic communications. “We used this information in building the site so users can find what they are looking for more readily.

“The site is better organized and more targeted to enhance the user experience,” Bonnin said. “The web is the primary source of information for prospective students.”

The new website was developed by UA’s Office of Web Communications. Templates and themes based on the new UA.edu framework will be built and later made available to campus departments.

Web Communications is a part of UA’s Division of Strategic Communications.
