TUSCALOOSA, Ala.Dr. David L. Albright, associate professor in The University of Alabama School of Social Work, has been selected to receive the Florida State University College of Social Work 2015 Distinguished Young Alumni Award.

Albright received both his master’s and doctoral degrees from Florida State University.

The award goes to an alumnus who graduated less than 10 years ago and has demonstrated outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to social work.

Albright joined the faculty at the UA School of Social Work in August 2015 as the Hill Crest Foundation Endowed Chair in Mental Health.

His scholarship focuses on health promotion and behavioral change among military personnel, veterans, their families and communities, and the organizations that support them. He has a particular interest in understanding the consequences of military service, which include social cognitive determinants and related conditions that influence the health and mental health of veterans and their dependents, as well as the services that would best meet their needs.

Before coming to UA, Albright served as an assistant professor of social work at The University of Missouri.

The 2015 Social Work Distinguished Young Alumni Award was presented at the FSU College of Social Work Student Scholarship and Distinguished Graduate Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 10.
