TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — World-class information technology strategist Dr. Filippo Passerini has been appointed executive professor of business analytics at The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Commerce for the 2015-16 academic year.

Passerini recently retired after serving more than 30 years at Procter & Gamble with more than 10 years as chief information officer and group president of Global Business Services.

Passerini, globally recognized as an IT and shared services thought leader, will lecture and lead workshops on business analytics and leadership on a part-time basis for Culverhouse starting this month.

He will also work with faculty, students and clients of the new Business Analytics Lab at Culverhouse. Passerini will also serve in an advisory role to the Culverhouse dean, the Board of the Institute of Business Analytics and students.

“I have built a strong relationship with the faculty and staff at Culverhouse, and I‘ve always had a passion to create content and teach,” said Passerini. “This is a great opportunity to fulfill my passion for teaching and to bring my experience to the table to help students become successful leaders.”

“We are honored and thrilled to have Filippo join the faculty and staff here at Culverhouse,” said Dr. Brian Gray, interim dean of the College. “He brings a wealth of real-world experience and knowledge that will further establish the College as a leader in business analytics.”

Passerini holds a doctorate in statistics and operations research from the University of Rome in Italy.

Passerini is a champion of transforming the way business is done — being distinctive by anticipating the needs of the business and delivering solutions that drive relevant business value. He has been the subject of numerous books, articles and Harvard Business Review pieces on strategies, principles and ideas.
