Thousands of University of Alabama students to receive degrees during this weekend’s spring commencement ceremonies
Tuscaloosa News – April 28
More than 4,411 undergraduates and graduate students are scheduled to receive degrees Friday and Saturday during spring commencement ceremonies on the University of Alabama campus. Graduation will be split into three ceremonies, all at Coleman Coliseum; 6 p.m. Friday: Graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Social Work will participate in a ceremony; 9 a.m. Saturday: Graduates from the College of Commerce and Business Administration and the College of Engineering participate in the first of two sessions, while graduates from the Capstone College of Nursing, College of Communication and Information Sciences, College of Education and the College of Human Environmental Sciences will participate in a session at 1:30 p.m.; 5 p.m.: The UA School of Law will have its graduation ceremony.

Deadline extended for University of Alabama’s summer program for gifted students

The deadline has been extended until May 15 for enrolling kinder-gartners through eighth-graders in a summer enrichment workshop offered by the University of Alabama for gifted students. The workshop, offered by UA’s Program for Talent Development and Gifted Studies, will begin June 9 and end June 27. Classes will be held at Matthews Elementary School, 1225 Rice Mine Road in Northport. Workshop topics will include “Awesome Art,” “Biology Bonanza,” “Extreme Meteorology,” “Calling All Grossologists” and more. Classes are taught by qualified teachers. The cost is $250.
