UA ENGINEERING RESEARCH ON RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS LEADS TO PATENT – Renewable energy sources such as wind-powered generators can be more reliable and efficient by better controlling the process of getting electricity onto the power grid, according to a United States patent based on research by Dr. Shuhui Li, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at The University of Alabama. UA SCHOOL OF MUSIC PRESENTS ‘HILARITAS’ – The University of Alabama College of Arts & Sciences School of Music presents its annual show of holiday music, “Hilaritas” on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Moody Music Building. The performances feature the Alabama Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Chris Kozak, UA director of jazz studies; the Huxford Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Blake Richardson, UA director of orchestral studies, and the University Singers under the direction of John Ratledge, UA director of choral activities. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for seniors and students on the main floor and first balcony and $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students on the second balcony.
