Tuscaloosa etiquette coach helps navigate holiday manners

There are dozens of certified Emily Post “trainers” in the country and one of them happens to call Tuscaloosa home. FOX6 News caught up with Gina Johnson for tips on some of those sticky situations that can trip people up this time of the year. Johnson has taught business and social etiquette for years at the University of Alabama and now she’s certified through the Emily Post Institute. Johnson says there are some top worries this time of year that can bring down the holiday cheer. So what if you forget a person’s name at a party? “The way that you handle forgetting someone’s name at a party is just to admit it and move on,” Johnson said. “Admit it, apologize and move on.” Johnson says it’s important to go to your office party but don’t act badly and end up on Santa’s naughty list. These parties sometimes include alcohol and you don’t want to be in a position the next morning where you must apologize for your behavior.
