ANNOUNCEMENTS
In order to better serve students during the campus move-in period, the Action Card Office and Transportation Services will both be open special weekend hours on Aug. 10-11 and Aug. 17-18. The offices will be open for essential services such as production of Action Cards, Bama Cash deposits, parking permit exchanges, and parking registration information. On Saturday, Aug. 10, the offices will be open from 1-4 p.m. and on Sunday, Aug. 11, from 2-4 p.m. The following weekend, the offices will be open 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, and Sunday, Aug. 18. Both offices are located in the Campus Drive Parking Deck/Transit Hub at 451 Campus Drive East.
All UA faculty, staff, students and visitors who own, operate or store any bicycle on the UA campus must register it with the UA Transportation Services Office. Registration may be done online at myBama. Click here for bike registration. You will be asked to login to your myBama account. After logging in, choose next and you will be at the Select Permit page at which time you can choose the Bike Permit option. Bike permits must be picked up at the Parking Services office located at 451 Campus Drive East (Transit Hub). There is no charge to register a bicycle.
After registering your bicycle, please be sure to park it in a UA bike rack. The University has significantly increased the number of bike racks distributed at convenient locations throughout campus. Bicycles should be secured to a bike rack each time they are left unattended on campus for any period of time. Bicycles should not be locked, secured, or otherwise attached to handrails, fences, trash receptacles, trees, trip rails, or sign posts or attached in any other manner that obscures the free ingress/egress of any building, stairway or pathway, or in such a manner as to interfere with the access to facilities as required by the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act.
When the bicycle is parked in violation of the bike policy, Transportation Services staff will impound the bike. As necessary, the locks, chains or other devised used to secure the bicycle may be removed with bolt cutters or other tools resulting in damage to the locking device. Any damage to the owner’s lock, chain or other device used to secure a bicycle will not be assumed by the University. An impounded bike will be released upon proof of ownership and a $25 recovery fee may be collected.
For more information about the UA bicycle policy, go to http://fawp.ua.edu/bamaparking/bicycle/ or visit the Transportation Services office located in the Campus Drive Parking Deck/Transit Hub at 451 Campus Drive.
