TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama’s Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity will pair with Delta Gamma sorority to host a philanthropy cookout from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Alpha Kappa Lambda house. All proceeds from the cookout will benefit the UA Women’s Resource Center and Turning Points organization.
Entry is $5 a person. The Alabama Panhellenic Association will also give one Panhellenic point per sorority woman in attendance.
The cookout on Thursday is affiliated with “These Hands Don’t Hurt,” also sponsored by Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity and Delta Gamma sorority, through Friday, April 12. Participants can visit a table set up at UA’s Ferguson Center to donate $1 and sign a “Promise Wall”.
This week is designed to raise money and awareness for battered women and children. Both the Women’s Resource Center and Turning Points give battered women and children counseling and resources needed after an incident.
