ARC grant to help business development
WTVA-NBC (Tupelo, Miss.) – July 13
The Appalachian Regional Commission will provide a grant to help business development and job creation in nine west Alabama counties. Gov. Robert Bentley says the ARC is providing $75,000 to expand the University of Alabama’s Entrepreneurial Research Network. The money will allow the university of open new centers in Lamar and Hale County. The ERN currently operates centers in seven counties, including Marion and Pickens County. The entrepreneurial research centers provide current and prospective business owners information and support to help them develop business plans and secure private investment funds for starting or expanding their businesses. The University of Alabama provides training to the center’s staff in business consultation. The state of Alabama will provide matching funds of $34,012.
