UA Student Selected Recipient of $5,000 LAGRANT Scholarship

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Benjamin T. Ladrillono, a University of Alabama sophomore in the department of advertising and public relations, was one of 16 undergraduate minority students nationwide to receive a $5,000 scholarship from The LAGRANT Foundation.

Recipients will be honored on Monday, May 21, at the 4th Anniversary Scholarship Recognition Reception and Awards Program in Washington, D.C.

Ladrillono, of Madison, and the other recipients will participate in a daylong career-development workshop and will have the opportunity to meet with industry professionals. The students will then attend the reception and awards program, where top executives from Marriott International and USA Today will be speaking.

The LAGRANT Foundation Scholarships are awarded to ethnic minority students across the U.S. pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in advertising, marketing and public relations. The LAGRANT Foundation is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to increase the number of ethnic minorities in the fields of advertising, marketing and public relations by providing scholarships, career development workshops, internships, professional development and mentors to African American, Asian Pacific American, Native American/Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino undergraduate and graduate students.

The UA department of advertising and public relations is an academic unit of the College of Communication and Information Sciences.
