Dr. William “Bill” Keel, professor of astronomy at The University of Alabama, captured this image of a solar eclipse Sunday evening from the MMT Observatory atop Mount Hopkins, Ariz., about 40 miles south of Tucson. Keel was in Arizona for other research-related efforts. In the foreground is Kitt Peak. Just to the left of the partially eclipsing sun, you might see the dome of another telescope observatory where Keel will work next week.
