Crimson Ride will suspend operations at 6 p.m. on March 9 for spring break. Normal operations will resume on March 19 at 7 a.m. The 348-RIDE service will run from 6 p.m. until midnight on March 9; normal operations will resume on March 19 at 10 p.m. The Sunday shopping shuttle will operate as normal during spring break.
The sidewalks in front of Little Hall and Moore Hall will close beginning March 10. Construction fencing will be placed around the grass “miniquad.” All faculty, staff and students will need to access Little Hall from the perimeter sidewalk running along Sixth Avenue, University Boulevard and Elm Drive (map). The University of Alabama will add a Friday night ceremony to commencement exercises this May to better accommodate more than 3,700 graduates and their families. Commencement exercises for students in the colleges of Communication and Information Sciences, Education, Human Environmental Sciences and Nursing will be at 6 p.m., Friday, May 4. Two ceremonies will be held Saturday, May 5, with students in the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Social Work receiving their degrees at 9 a.m. and students in the colleges of Commerce and Business Administration and Engineering receiving their degrees at 1:30 p.m. In addition, the School of Law will hold its commencement exercises at 5:30 p.m., May 5. All ceremonies will be in Coleman Coliseum.
Any student who is unable to attend the ceremony scheduled for his or her college may request to be accommodated at another ceremony.
The president’s reception for all graduates will be from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 4, at the President’s Mansion.

A graduation celebration will be held March 7-8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Ferguson Center Plaza. Students can order their caps and gowns, announcements, class rings, diploma frames and receive free résumé critiques. A photographer will be on site to take cap and gown photographs. The Community Service Center and Bama Dining will host a Hunger Banquet on March 7, at 6 p.m. in the Heritage Room at the Ferguson Center. A Start Smart workshop will be held on March 8, in 300 Ferguson Center beginning at 5 p.m. The workshop is designed for women but open to everyone. Participants learn what employers are paying recent graduates and how to negotiate a starting salary. Preregistration is required through the Women’s Resource Center’s website at http://wrc.ua.edu. Members from two student-political organizations on campus, the UA College Democrats and the Young Americans for Liberty, will meet on stage to discuss the Alabama immigration law. Students can help UA win a national championship in recycling during Recyclemania, which is in progress and will end April 6. Recyclemania is a recycling competition between universities in the United States and Canada held to raise awareness about recycling. Items can be placed in any of the numerous blue bins on campus.
