
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Emily McLaughlin of Montgomery was named The University of Alabama Homecoming Queen for 2011 Friday, Oct. 7, during UA’s annual Homecoming Pep Rally on campus.
McLaughlin, who was sponsored by Phi Mu Sorority, is a senior majoring in nursing.
The following students, all seniors, were selected as members of the 2011 UA Homecoming Court:
Erika Baranek of Gloucester, Va., a communication studies major sponsored by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee
Coresa Nancy Hogan of Birmingham, a marketing major sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
Fernanda Lima of Douglasville, Ga., an accounting major sponsored by the University Honors Program
Mary Talley of Orlando, Fla., an interior design major sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority
The queen will be crowned at halftime of the homecoming football game between Alabama and Vanderbilt on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
UA students selected the queen in a general election held Tuesday, Oct. 4. Some 8,245 votes were cast in this year’s election; voting was done online through student myBama accounts.
