Mason to Head Alabama Productivity Center at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Dr. J. Barry Mason, professor of business administration, who will step down Aug. 16 as dean of the Culverhouse College of Commerce at The University of Alabama, has been tapped by incoming Dean J. Michael Hardin to be the interim director of the Alabama Productivity Center.

The Alabama Productivity Center, a nonprofit organization at The University of Alabama, works to improve Alabama companies’ quality, productivity and competitiveness through the use of the University’s research and educational resources.

“Dean Mason is exceptionally well-fitted for this assignment,” Hardin said. “He has a world of experience in academic and industrial partnerships and business school outreach initiatives. He is a disciple of excellence and has been a strong proponent of using University resources to enhance productivity and quality in Alabama firms.”

Dr. David Miller, professor of management science, the outgoing APC director, will return to teaching in the department of information systems, statistics and management science.
