Touched by Nurses, Retired Judge Gives UA $100,000 for Nursing Scholarship

It’s hard to impress a 90-year-old lawyer who, even after retiring as Tuscaloosa’s municipal judge in 1984, still comes into the office. Yet, Gordon Rosen was so impressed by the nurses who helped his brother that he donated $100,000 to Capstone College of Nursing at The University of Alabama to create an endowed scholarship.

UA, Auburn Students Join Forces in Storm Relief through House United Habitat Project

Students from The University of Alabama and Auburn University are joining forces to help storm relief efforts in Tuscaloosa by working on Habitat for Humanity’s House United building project July 18-22 to help a family return home.

Building upon work initiated by University of Alabama scientists, Harvard Medical School researchers, collaborating with UA and others, took another step in cracking the code behind a protein’s precise role in the disease dystonia and, along the way, discovered a new lead for cystic fibrosis research, according to a journal article publishing today.
