UA team gearing up for USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship

…The Alabama Triathletes are a registered USA Triathlon club, and compete in the USAT South Eastern Collegiate Triathlon Conference, which includes all universities in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina and the Florida panhandle. On Saturday, for the third year, the Alabama Triathletes will host the USAT Collegiate Nationals along with the University of Alabama. Hosting nationals is a special occasion for Alabama Triathletes, not only because it marks the pinnacle competition of the season but it was one of the primary reasons behind the club’s founding.

Optimism rising for Birmingham area business leaders, University of Alabama survey shows

Business leaders in the Birmingham-Hoover area are feeling more optimistic about the area’s economy, according to the results of a survey by the University of Alabama’s Center for Business Economic Research The center said its Birmingham-Hoover Business Confidence Index rose 2.1 points to 54.3 in the second quarter. Nearly 52 percent of respondents said they expect their company to post higher sales, while just 16 percent expect a decline. “Area business executives remain optimistic that the metro economy is slowly regaining strength, as all components of the index moved above 50, indicating expansion,” the center said. In keeping with recent trends, however, the confidence level of Birmingham area business leaders trailed the statewide index. Area executives are also less optimistic than counterparts in Huntsville, Mobile and Montgomery, the center said.
Department of Theater and Dance Put On “The Baby Dance”
