National Alumni Association Announces UA Award Winners

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama National Alumni Association recently named recipients of the Distinguished Alumni, Alumni Student and Outstanding Senior Awards.

For 2011, the Distinguished Alumna Award winner is Joyce Stephenson Whetstone of Tuscaloosa and the Distinguished Alumnus Award winner is Byrd Roy Latham of Athens.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards honor a UA alumna and alumnus for their contributions to the University and the NAA. Selection for the award is based on loyalty and service, character and personal life, professional achievement or success and community service on the local, state or national level.

The NAA also recognizes and honors students in the graduating senior class through its Alumni Student Awards. These students have excelled in academics and extracurricular activities, shown strength of character and maturity and displayed exceptional hospitality toward guests and friends of the University.

Stephanie F. Prickett of Attalla and Daniel E. Bush of Panama City, Fla., are the recipients for the 2011 Alumni Student Awards.

The 2011 Outstanding Senior Award winners include: Benton Atchison of Montgomery, Taylor Scott Collins of Decatur, Zachary J. Coppens of Madison, Austin Alan Doss of Mount Olive, Ellyn Louise Hamm of Huntsville, Whitney Hobson of Montgomery, Lindsay Leon of Mobile, Emily Lauren Lloyd of Excel, John Michael Murray of Birmingham and Holly Nicole Willis of Lake View.

All award recipients were recognized at the annual Alumni Weekend Luncheon held on Saturday, April 16.
