Johnson Named Management-Marketing Department Head at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. —Dr. Diane Johnson, associate professor of management and Miles-Rose Professor of Leadership, has been named head of the department of management and marketing at The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Commerce.

Johnson has been serving as interim department head for the past six months.

“We are very fortunate that Dr. Johnson has agreed to step into this position on a continuing basis,” said Dr. J. Barry Mason, dean of the business school. “She will be a valuable addition to the College leadership team.”

She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her Master of Science and doctorate from Cornell University.

She is a specialist in employee attitudes and behaviors, leadership, motivation and work performance, and human resource management studies.

Johnson has made numerous presentations to the Academy of Management and the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. She has published articles in such journals as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personality and Individual Differences, and Academy of Management Journal. She serves on the editorial boards for the Journal of Management and Human Resource Management. She is also a member of the executive committee for the Human Resource division of the Academy of Management.

She is a member of the Academy of Management, the American Psychological Association, the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Cornell chapter. She has served as director of operations of the Laboratory of Ornithology at Cornell University.
