TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Dr. Elva Bradley, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at The University of Alabama since 1999, has been promoted to the position of assistant to the vice provost for academic affairs, effective March 1.

“Dr. Bradley brings a wealth of experience to this position that will have a primary focus on grant writing for the Office for Academic Affairs and the Office of Student Affairs,” said Dr. Judy Bonner, UA provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.

“We’re excited about this new position and its potential for encouraging growth in obtaining outside funding for critical areas of service to our students and faculty.”

In her new role, Bradley will serve as assistant to Dr. Mark Nelson, vice provost for academic affairs and vice president for student affairs. Nelson said he looks forward to increased activity in the contract and grant area for his division and Bradley’s leadership in assisting him in several areas of emphasis in the Division of Academic Affairs.

“Dr. Bradley’s extensive experience in working with funding agencies to prepare applications for grants in several areas, including support services for special populations, will be extremely important in this new role,” Nelson said. “I know she will be successful as we look for growth opportunities in sponsored programs and grant funding.”

Bradley, a native of Daphne, began her professional career as an educator in Tacoma, Wash. Prior to coming to UA in 1999, she was employed by Tuskegee University as dean of admissions and records and also served as registrar and assistant to the provost.
