Crimson Tide tags draw most coverage on Alabama vehicles

World War II veterans to be recognized at Saturday’s game against Mississippi State

This weekend 13 World War II veterans will be honored at the University of Alabama football game. Those 13 veterans and 47 others are sharing their stories in a new book called “When Winning Was Everything.” It highlights 60 men who contributed in all areas of service.

…About 500 UA students will mount broomsticks on the Quad on Sunday as Creative Campus, along with several other university organizations, hosts a bracketed tournament of the magical game. “We originally anticipated about 10 teams and we got 47 team registrations,” said Alexis Clark, Creative Campus coordinator. “Each team has 10 to 12 players. so that’s 490-plus University of Alabama students registered to play Quidditch on the Quad. “We have a team of chemical engineers, we have a team from the school of law, we have a few teams from New College. The majority of our teams are pick-up teams. It’s a wide variety. We have a good range of participation. The student body has really gotten behind it.”…Creative Campus is working with the University Recreation Center, UA Facilities, the Honors College Assembly, UA Dining, the Alabama International Relations Club and the Alabama Literacy Initiative to put on this weekend’s competition, which will feature a book drive and internationally themed booths for each team…
