Alabama Public Radio at UA Announces Program Schedule Change

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama Public Radio, which broadcasts from studios in the College of Communication and Information Sciences at The University of Alabama, is changing its weekday evening and weekend schedule beginning Monday, Sept. 6.

“As a member-supported public radio station, we pay attention to listener preferences and look for opportunities to improve our public service and increase the number of listeners to Alabama Public Radio,” said Elizabeth Brock, director of the Center for Public Television and Radio.

“Adding evening classical music to the line-up and scheduling the BBC world news at a more accessible time will provide excellent listening for our nighttime audience. Our locally-produced programming will continue to add value to our regular news programming and our eclectic schedule of week-end music.”

Monday through Thursday evenings beginning at 8, listeners hear full-length performances from some of the country’s leading symphony orchestras, from the New York Philharmonic to the Chicago Symphony, as well as concerts recorded in the Concertgebouw, considered one of the finest concert halls in the world.

BBC World News will be more accessible when it starts airing at 10 p.m. seven nights a week. Weekend programming changes will include adjusted times for APR’s Sunday night local music line-up, with “Getting Sentimental Over You” starting at 5 p.m.
