ANNOUNCEMENTS

Student organizations have until Aug. 11 to register for Plaza Live, a Week of Welcome event that showcases a variety of activities and services that UA and Tuscaloosa have to offer. Plaza Live will be held Aug. 15 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Ferguson Plaza and Promenade. Registered organizations can set up information tables during the 7-9 p.m. period and host interactive games and activities. Click on http://wow.ua.edu/tableRequest.cfm to register.

Each fall, all laptops and mobile devices registered on the UA system are removed in order to maintain a high level of safety and security across the campus network. Students no longer affiliated with the University have been removed from the system. Users who registered on the wireless network within the last 30 days were not dropped. All others will have to re-register. Students returning to campus who want to use a laptop or mobile device must complete a simple, one-time registration. Users will be prompted to complete the registration on their first attempt to open a Web browser. They must enter their myBama usernames and passwords, accept the user agreement and restart their devices to complete the registration process. For information regarding the registration of game consoles, click http://resnet.ua.edu/subscribers/gameconsole.html. ResNet users will be prompted to register their desktops, laptops and mobile devices. Contact the Office of Information Technology service desk at 348-5555 or ITSD@ua.edu with problems or questions.

Currently enrolled UA students who wish to purchase tickets to away football games must place their names on a waiting list during the first week of fall semester classes, Aug. 18-25. Tickets will be allocated to students on the waiting list based on UA credit hours earned. This is not a first-come, first-served ticket sale. More information and details will be sent to students’ official UA Crimson e-mail accounts. Contact the UA Ticket Office at 205-348-6113 with any questions.

The University is making plans for Thursday, Nov. 18, the new date of the UA vs. Georgia State football game, and would like to be informed of all campus events planned for Nov. 17 and 18. Anyone with events or activities scheduled for those dates should send information to Trent Barnes, assistant director of games and event management, at tbarnes@ia.ua.edu.

EVENTS, ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

Ripple Effect Freshman Service Day is Aug. 14. This event is a chance for new students to get to know their community, their fellow classmates and the Community Service Center through a day of service. Students can choose from a variety of volunteer activities. Preregister at http://slpro.ua.edu or on Aug. 14 at 9 a.m. at the Ferguson Plaza. Volunteers will work at their selected service sites from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then return to the Student Recreation Center for lunch.
