Alabama New Construction Report Available on UA Website

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — New construction statistics for Alabama in May 2010 are a mixed bag, showing progress on the sales front but a decline in permits, according to The University of Alabama’s Center for Real Estate, part of the Culverhouse College of Commerce.

Permits for May 2010 were down 7.8 percent from May 2009, but were down 36 percent from April 2010. Housing starts in May were down from April 2010 by nearly 13 percent, but were 8 percent higher than May 2009.
