TUSCALOOSA, AL. – The University of Alabama’s Denny Society recently held its sixth biennial event honoring its 739 members, with a record 230 attendees.

The Denny Society is reserved exclusively for individuals who have included the University in their estate plans. Named for UA’s 14th president, Dr. George Hutcheson Denny, and his family, The Denny Society recognizes the importance of deferred gifts in ensuring the future of the University. Such gifts assist the University in planning for the future.

“Today the members of The Denny Society carry on Dr. Denny’s vision of leadership and excellence. The University of Alabama is most grateful for the foresight and vision of these loyal donors,” said Phil Adcock, assistant vice president of development.

Individuals who include the University in their estate plans are eligible for membership in The Denny Society. Various types of deferred gift arrangements qualify, such as will bequests, trust arrangements, charitable gift annuities and beneficiary designations in life insurance and retirement plans. There are no gift minimums or age requirements.

At the recent biennial event, members were invited back to UA’s campus for an induction ceremony honoring 42 new Denny Society members. Before the luncheon and induction ceremony, members were invited to hear a program led by students performing their talents, followed by a tour of the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility.

“I am pleased to travel back to UA’s campus and visit with others who share the same vision for the University. It is refreshing to see the new additions of buildings and new programs for our students,” said John McNeil, of Mobile, a Denny Society member.
